Assembly

Year Six have spent the last few days getting ready for their assembly on Tuesday.
We will be sharing our experiences at Alton Castle with everyone and explaining the thoughts and actions which we will now live out at school.
We know that we have to learn our words carefully and speak up in the hall. This year we have added a bit of a twist in the way that we are re-telling what happened.
Year 6 parents and Years 1 - 5 will have to wait until Tuesday morning to find out!

Faith Friends

Yesterday Year 6 met their Faith Friends in Year 3 for the first time.
A Faith Friend is a child in another year who needs our help and support as they make their sacramental preparation. Year 6 will help Year 3 as they make their first Confession and First Holy Communion. Year 3 will help Year 6 as we get ready for our Confirmation in June.
Yesterday we worked with each other and talked about the message which Father David shared with us at mass on Monday afternoon. Year 3 recorded some wonderful reflections in their book. Well done!

Retreat Week

Year 6 returned on Wednesday evening from a wonderful retreat at Alton Castle.
We all really enjoyed activities such as climbing, crates, trekking and survival. The final mass on Tuesday evening was also really special and Year 6 participated beautifully.
During Thursday and Friday, we continued our Alton Castle reflection in school. This included making 'Wanted' posters for a good disciple of Jesus and sharing our favourite moments of the trip. We ended the week together with Mass in School where we were joined by Father David, Mrs Aldred, Mr Kelly, Mrs Girling and parents.
It really has been a memorable week. Year 6 thank Mr Barton for organising it and look forward to presenting their assembly about their visit soon!

'Pack up your Troubles'

Yesterday Years 2 to 6 were lucky enough to watch a production of the play 'Pack up your Troubles' in school. The play introduced the key events of WWII and helped us to understand new words and ideas such as rationing and evacuation. Year 6 can not wait to start their history topic now and really enjoyed the dramatic and enthusiastic performance! (Especially the sing-along at the end!)

A New Year.......

Term starts on Thursday and the new Year 6 will begin their final months at Holy Souls School.

This blog will be a record for them of all the activities they will participate in throughout their final year at primary school. It will also give us a chance to share what we learn and do with anyone who reads the blog. Keep popping back to see what we have been up to!
