Please do not forget to keep going with your research project about your chosen 'Great Briton'. Remember these are due in on Friday 9th January 2009.
Keep up with your reading everyday! Remember the reading task set in school during Book Week in November. Will you have read eight books and recorded them on your grid?
Have a look at the great songs and videos on our Science topics on the website that we shared in class. www.simplescience.net
Remember that we move onto circuits when we return to school in January.
Have a happy Christmas and a restful holiday!

Mass
The whole school celebrated Mass together in Church on Thursday. This was the final part of our Advent journey in school. Father has asked us all to ask our grown ups to attend Mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Well done for the great readings, singing and recorder playing.
Our Nativity
Well done to Years 5 and 6 for a wonderful Nativity last Monday evening.
The production of 'The Late Wise Man' was fun to perform and followed the journey of Artaban, the 4th wise man, who found Jesus everywhere. Everybody spoke out and sang beautifully. It was a lovely end to our Nativity productions in school.

Research Project
This week the children have been set their research project.
They have been asked to pick any Great Briton ( who is dead), research them and compile a project about that person. We have discussed this in detail in school and come up with lots of very interesting suggestions. Remember to include key facts, pictures, photos, your own artwork and the all important bibliography (a list of where you got your information from!). Remember there are also house points for presentation!

Music Assembly
On Thursday morning, the Year 6 guitarists and recorder players joined the children in Year 4 to perform in a music assembly. Year 4 have been learning their instruments for a term and were keen to show the school just what they can do.
Year 6 then went on to play the pieces they have learnt this term including: 'My heart will go on' and 'Jingle Bells.'
Lots of parents were able to attend the assembly. It showed just what a musical bunch we all are!

Continuing Advent preparations
On Friday Year 5 and 6 continued preparing for the Christmas season. We have been spending time learning our songs for our Nativity and practising the play in Church. We must now work on speaking out and projecting our voices so that they can hear us at the back. We will be continuing with our rehearsals next week but WITHOUT scripts and lyrics!
Today, the Second Sunday of Advent, was a family mass at Sacred Hearts and Holy Souls Church. Years 5 and 6 read very well and Year 3 and 4 sang a song from 'Are we nearly there yet?' beautifully. Well done everyone!

What a performance!
We have been really lucky this week in school. Yesterday afternoon we had the chance to see the Year 3 / Year 4 Nativity production and this afternoon we all all watched Reception's play.
Both productions were excellent - the children sang beautifully and all the 'actors' spoke out clearly and enthusiastically.
Year 5 and 6 will have a lot to live up to on the 15th! We are practicing in Church this week. Scripts and song words will not be used from Monday onwards!
